Privacy Policy
Last updated: 6 October 2026
Notch is currently available as Notch Teleprompter. Parts of this document describe features planned for Notch 2, including AI writing, cloud transcription, meeting recaps, recording and editing, Notch accounts, the Plus and Pro plans and in-app usage analytics. They apply only once those features are available.
This Privacy Policy describes how Notch ("we", "us") processes personal information when you use the Notch desktop app for macOS and Windows, a Notch account, and the Notch website at trynotch.net. Read it together with our Terms of Service and the plain-language guide Privacy & data, explained.
Notch is built to keep your work on your computer where it can. The teleprompter, its voice following and your saved recordings run locally. Some features, such as AI writing, cloud transcription and meeting recaps, need cloud processing. You choose when to use them.
1. Who is responsible for your data
SOCIA HACKS ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE SERVICES L.L.C., which operates Notch, is the controller of personal information processed for the Notch app, Notch accounts, the website, purchases and support. You can reach us at syed@socia.ae.
2. Information that stays on your computer
- Scripts, settings and teleprompter use. Scripts you write and the settings you choose are stored on your device.
- Voice following. The teleprompter follows your voice with a speech model installed on your computer. Microphone audio used for voice following is not sent to us.
- Recordings and meetings. Screen recordings, camera and microphone captures, meeting records and video edits are saved on your computer. You choose the sources, start and stop each capture, and decide where exports are saved.
Deleting a local item removes it from your computer. It does not by itself delete information held in your account or by a service provider; see section 8.
3. Information we process when you use cloud features
These features only run when you start them:
- Writer. The notes, source text and instructions you submit are sent to our AI provider to generate a script.
- Cloud transcription and captions. The audio needed for the transcript is uploaded for transcription, speaker labels and word timings.
- Meeting recaps. The transcript and relevant notes are sent to our AI provider to produce a summary.
Under our current configuration, uploaded audio is deleted once a transcription succeeds and within one day if a job fails or does not finish. Transcripts and notes produced in the cloud are deleted once the app downloads them, and otherwise within seven days. Copies saved in the app stay on your computer until you delete them. Our providers may keep limited records under their own terms, for example for abuse monitoring or legal compliance.
Do not include information you do not want processed by a cloud service. You are responsible for having the right to record and transcribe the people in a conversation; see our Terms of Service.
4. Account, purchase and support information
- Account. Your email address and sign-in details. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google.
- Plans and usage. Your plan, trial or license status, and usage such as AI credits and cloud transcription time, so we can apply your allowances.
- Purchases. Our payment provider processes checkout and sends us the details needed to activate your plan or license, such as your email, order and subscription references. We do not receive your full card number.
- License keys. When you activate a Notch Teleprompter or Legacy license, the key is validated with our payment provider and linked to your account.
- Feedback and support. Messages you send in the app or by email, along with your account details so we can reply.
5. Website, downloads and analytics
- Download sign-ups. If you enter your email address on the website, we use it to send a setup email for your download. We store your email address, the optional company name, the platform you chose and how you found us, so we can understand interest in Notch and help with your setup if needed. Your email address is also kept in our email provider's contact list, marked as unsubscribed from marketing emails. We do not add you to a newsletter. To prevent abuse and duplicate emails, we also keep a one-way hash of your email and IP address for up to an hour.
- Purchase emails. When you buy the Notch Teleprompter we send a welcome email and, a few days later, one short email asking how Notch is going and for your feedback. Replies come to us and are used only to improve Notch and help you. To avoid sending a second setup email, we keep a one-way hash of your email address for up to three days after you buy. These are not marketing emails.
- Website operation. Our hosting provider processes requests and connection details, such as IP address, browser headers and requested pages, to deliver and protect the website.
- Website analytics. We measure how the website is used with PostHog in cookieless mode, for example page views, download clicks, installer downloads and checkout clicks. An event can include the page, language, chosen platform, referring website or campaign, approximate country and general device, operating system and browser type. No cookies or browser storage are used, IP addresses are not stored, and website visits are not linked to your account.
- App analytics. Share usage analytics is on by default in the app's privacy settings. While it is on, Notch sends feature-use events with an account or installation identifier. These events exclude scripts, transcripts, recordings, notes, file names and typed content. You can turn this off at any time. Billing and allowance records needed to run your account continue.
- Updates. The app checks for and downloads updates from GitHub, which receives standard request information such as your IP address.
6. How we use information and our legal bases
We use personal information to:
- Provide the app, your account, your plan and the features you request.

Cloud processing data follows the periods in section 3. Download sign-ups are deleted after 24 months. Website analytics events are kept under our analytics provider's retention settings and are not linked to individuals. Support messages are kept as long as needed to resolve your request and maintain records. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.

You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority, such as the UAE Data Office.
